Let me share some secrets with you. Have you ever wondered how to to get the designer look in your home ? For some of us design and space planning comes naturally & for others its a chore. There are some basics that will help you make some interior design decisions. I will do a series of "how to get the look" over the next few weeks and show you how to get great results. Lets get started with your walls. WallsHang larger pictures or art alone and medium sized in pairs Photo credit /vogue.au Photo credit /Shift interiors Make a statement with a photo gallery wall. Select some frames and photos and group them to make a themed wall. This looks good with frames of the same colour or get a vintage look going with a mix of frames. This takes time so be patient. The easy bit is hanging them ! See more in the blog about hanging art and pictures. Hang a selection of small pictures or prints in groups / these can be letters ,poems, pictures postcards or your favorite birthday card, whatever you can find. We all keep special things worth framing. Top tip Please just make sure they are straight . Best thing ever to buy is a level..... A statement clock is a great way to liven up a wall in a kitchen. If you have the room, the bigger the better. Try a clock with a candle sconce each side or if you have power, a wall light each side looks great too. There are lots of fabulous clocks available and they are always a winner. Try copper clocks or large pocket style aluminium or vintage ones. The latest trend for round clocks with leather straps are also a great buy. Mirrors are one of my all time favourite ways to transform a wall in any space. I may have mentioned this once or twice before......anyway believe me the more the merrier. The palace of Versaille and the hall of mirrors have inspired many the buddding young and not so young interior designer. We can never have too many mirrors. Nev -errr............. ever. So release your inner interior design style and show us the results . We cant wait to see what you do . |
